The Department of Musicology and Cultural Heritage (Cremona) of the University of Pavia (Italy) welcomes applications for a two-year Research Grant (assegno di ricerca) in Musicology-Digital Humanities, part of the multidisciplinary project VerDigital – A Model of Digital Critical Edition for the Operas of Giuseppe Verdi, funded by the Ministry of University and Research under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP), Mission 4, “Education and Research” – Component 2, “From Research to Business” – Investment line 1.2, “Funding projects presented by young researchers”, funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU.

VerDigital seeks  to develop: 1. an applied model of digital critical edition for The Works of Giuseppe Verdi (Ricordi – University of Chicago Press), using the French version of Verdi’s Otello (Paris, Opéra, 1894) as a case study; 2. an applied model of digital critical edition for Verdi’s preparatory materials.

Within this context, the advertised Research Grant has three specific objectives: 1) the development of the model of digital critical edition of Othello, in collaboration with the project’s Principal Investigator; 2) the development of an interactive system of fruition of the score; 3) the publication of a an article in a academic journal in collaboration with the Principal Investigator.
