A new professorship will be opened in Cologne next year, and we are now seeking
application for the job. It will have a double affiliation with the Department
for Digital Humanities and one other department at the Faculty of Arts and
Humanities. The other department will be decided based on the profile of the
selected candidate.
The candidate should combine the use of digital tools for cultural heritage and
the humanities with well-founded reflections on methodology and the consequences
for research. One focus of the professorship is the exploration, development and
reflection of digital tools applied to digital as well as non-digital research
artefacts, e.g., in connection with collections and the management and analysis
of artefact data. The professorship is intended to add a further pillar to the
integrated approach to DH in Cologne. In this context, a separate degree program
should be developed.
The University of Cologne is committed to equal opportunities and diversity.
Women are especially encouraged to apply and will be considered preferentially
in accordance with the Equal Opportunities Act of North Rhine-Westphalia
(Landesgleichstellungsgesetz – LGG NRW). We also expressly welcome applications
from people with disabilities / special needs or of equal status.
